Isaac Demellweek takes the honours on opening day of the Yokohama Tyre AASA Australian Formula Ford Championship

Isaac Demellweek has taken the top spot in both official practice sessions on the first Fast Friday of the season for the Yokohama Tyres AASA Australian Formula Ford Championship at The Bend.

Demellweek driving for the new Holinger Racing squad gave the team a perfect start to its campaign by setting a 1m 22.913s time in the opening session and backed this up in the second with a 1m 23.076s to end the day fastest.

In the opening session, debutant Oli Wickham was just 0.206s off the pace driving the BF Racing Mygale from Seth Burchartz, Sam March and the returning Jamie Rowe.

Sixth was Lachlan Mineeff as Giuseppe Imbrogno, Xavier Henderson, Hunter Salvatore and Kaleb Belak completed the top 10.

Behind Demellweek in the second session was Burchartz by 0.080s ahead of March, Henderson, Wickham and Imbrogno.

The remainder of the top 10 featured Jamie Rowe, Will Lowing, Salvatore and debutant Rio Campbell for reigning champion Kobi Williams’ team.

The Yokohama Tyre AASA Australian Formula Ford Championship action commences at 10:05am for Qualifying ahead of two races at 12:35pm and 3:10pm.

Qualifying will be broadcast on the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series Youtube Channel, but both races will feature on SBS and Kayo Sports.
