Kavich brothers to shake up Hi-Tec Oils APC Endurance Championship decider

The Hi-Tec Oils APC Endurance Championship draws to a close at Winton where a new contender will aim to shake up the title battle.

Forming part of a stacked Hi-Tec Oils Super Series program at the Winton Wrap to complete its first season under AASA-sanctioning, the Hi-Tec Oils APC Endurance Championship will go down to the wire.

It’s a David vs Goliath battle for the top spot between the Class D Volkswagen Polo GTi shared by father-son duo Rob and Allan Jarvis against Lindsay Kearns driving the Class A2 CMA Car Mods Australia Ford Mustang GT.

Entering the round, Kearns holds an 18-point advantage from the Jarvis pair following a dominant run at the two Queensland Raceway events. After enduring reliability problems in his new A2 Class Ultimate Diesel Tuning Ford Mustang, Trent Whyte is also a contender entering the season finale 25-points in arrears.

Another dimension will be added at Winton as Ben and Michael Kavich will join the field in their Thryv Race For a Cure Class X BMW M2 Competition. The duo have been frontrunners in the Hi-Tec Oils Bathurst 6 Hour since debuting the BMW in 2022 and continue to attract drivers including Supercars ace Thomas Randle.

Winners of the ‘Fight in the Night’, Hadrian Morrall and Tyler Mecklem will be targeting outright success to end a mixed season for the pair sharing the A2 Class Parramatta Vehicle Services Ford Mustang GT.

Luck has often deserted the FG Motorsport duo of Chris Gunther and Mitch Randall driving their Class A1 Mercedes-Benz A45 AMG, but the hopes are that recent reliability troubles have been cured as the package should be suited to the Winton layout.

Two generations of Mitsubishi Lancer Evos will feature in the A1 Class field at Winton. Graeme Wakefield makes his Hi-Tec Oils APC Endurance Championship debut in an Evo X sponsored by GRW Retail and Spring Farm Village to be co-driven by Martin White.

Hugh Zochling will also debut in an older Evo VIII supported by Hadley Green Investment Group.

Adding an Aussie flavour to the field is the consistent FPV GT-F of David Ling and Troy Williams. The last of the breed for Ford Performance Vehicles, the supercharged V8 will be best suited in the 300km endurance event on Saturday.

Father-daughter pairing of Paul and Karlie Buccini will target not only B1 Class success at Winton, but also fancy their outright prospects after strong performances in the rapid BMW 340i at Queensland Raceway.

Richard Shinkfield will also make the trip down south in the B2 Class Axis Surveys BMW R92 M3 co-driven by Andrew Milford.

Oskar Butt and Troy Derwent have featured at each round in the PB Motorsport Services HSV VXR, but will end on a positive by scoring victory in C Class.

The Jarvis father-son duo will have a battle on their hands in Class D as Aston Davis and Josh Trappett will provide stiff competition in the ADR All Access-backed Subaru BRZ.

Aiming to match it with the Class D contenders will be Emily Caccaviello and Luke van Herwaard in a Scholarship-specification Class I Toyota 86.

Coverage of the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series will be shown on SBS on Demand, Fox Sports, Kayo and Hi-Tec Oils Super Series YouTube Channel.
