Seth Burchartz reigns supreme in Yokohama Tyre AASA Australian Formula Ford Championship Shootout
Team Sonic’s Seth Burchartz has scored his first Yokohama Tyre AASA Australian Formula Ford Championship pole position at Queensland Raceway following a scintillating Shootout lap.
Going out in the penultimate group for Shootout, Burchartz set the fastest second sector on the way to a 1m 15.940s lap.
The last group, consisting of Jamie Rowe, Isaac Demellweek and championship leader Oli Wickham all failed to eclipse Burchartz’s time, giving the Team Sonic driver his maiden pole.
Demellweek will share the front-row after falling just short of pole by 0.014s, while Wickham was 0.056s off Burchartz’s time in third.
Luck has deserted Will Lowing so far this season, but he lines up fourth after setting a time 0.086s off pole position.
Title contender Rowe leads the third row alongside Lachie Mineeff, with Hunter Salvatore, Rio Campbell, Brad James and Sam March completing the top 10.
Just outside were Will Hickey, Tabitha Ambrose, Ryan DeBorre and Jett Leicester in his repaired BF Racing Mygale.
After Leicester’s rollover in Saturday’s opening race, the BF Racing crew wasted no time starting repairs and successfully completed the job before the Shootout.
Xavier Henderson missed the Shootout due to a steering problem encountered during the warm-up, and Kaleb Balek also endured brake trouble.
Giuseppe Imbrogno was penalised following qualifying after failing to pass post-session scrutineering and will start 17th.
The opening race on Sunday is scheduled to commence at 1:30 pm AEST and will be part of the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series broadcast on SBS and Kayo Sports.
