Behind the Visor is back in 2026 with host Matt Cavanagh returning to the desk to preview the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series season opener at the Shell V-Power Motorsport Park next weekend from March 13-15.
In this episode of Behind the Visor Cavanagh is joined by a whole host of guests, talking about the news that has broken in the off-season.
Guests include AASA’s CEO Stephen Whyte, TA2 Muscle Car Series category manager Matt MacKelden, Formula RX8 boss Justin Lewis, TA2 competitor Cameron Laws, TFH Hire Legend Cars owner Brett Thomas, Legend Cars media man Jai Eccles and Innovation Race Cars driver Daniel Jilesen.
Firstly, Cavanagh is joined by Australian Auto-Sport Alliance CEO Stephen Whyte who discusses all the announcements that have been made in the off-season by the sanctioning body of the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series.
Conversation includes the appointment of Marcos Ambrose as the AASA Competition and Commercial Director; the introduction of rolling starts and the recent announcement that Yokohama Tyres has become the naming rights sponsor of the AASA Australian Formula Ford Championship.
TA2 Muscle Car Series category manager Matt MacKelden and young up and coming driver Cameron Laws are the two guests from the V8 powered series.
MacKelden speaks in depth about how the 2026 TA2 series is very open, with so many quality drivers capable of not only winning races but fighting for the title this year.
He openly chats about how the business of TA2 has grown within Australia in the last 12 months and teased what may come in the next couple of months.
Laws was a driver in the recent AASA Combine, he discusses the event and concept, while also looking ahead at his 2026 season, his goals and expectations.
Brett Thomas, the owner of TFH Legend Cars visits Cavanagh to chat about the recent news that TFH Hire has become the official presenting partner for Hi-Tec Oils Super Series – Season 4.
While Jai Eccles, the media face of the series chatted with Cavanagh about the favourites for the 2026 Legend Cars title, and what makes the series such a great launch pad for young drivers.
Formula RX8 boss Justin Lewis expressed his pleasure of being back with the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series and explained how Jackson Rice is now the series technical director, making sure everyone is on a level playing field.
Lastly, front-running Australian IRC Series driver Daniel Jilesen talks all things IRC including the introduction of the IRC SD and the progress of the IRC Model A.
