Seth Burchartz confirms Yokohama Tyre AASA Australian Formula Ford Championship attack
Seth Burchartz is targeting the Yokohama Tyre AASA Australian Formula Ford Championship and has brought in a storied team to aid in his assault.
Burchartz’s program will be backed by 14-time Australian Formula Ford Championship winning squad Sonic Motor Racing Services in a satellite association with Sonic providing preparation, set-up and data support.
Sonic has enlisted the services of its 2023 Australian Formula Ford Champion Matt Hillyer to provide coaching support to Burchartz for the championship.
The link between Burchartz and Sonic comes through the help of father Sven, who won the inaugural Porsche Michelin Sprint Challenge title for the squad back in 2008.
Burchartz enters his second season of national Formula Ford competition after honing his earlier skills in Victoria’s BMW Drivers’ Cup utilising the E30 model, before making the next step in his career.
In his native state of Victoria, Burchartz was a consistent frontrunner last year to finish fifth in the State Championship, which included a front-row start at Phillip Island’s opening round.
Scoring the Yokohama Tyre AASA Australian Formula Ford Championship is the goal for Burchartz this season and be supported by a team such as Sonic further enhances those aspirations.
A record-breaking team in Formula Ford competition, Sonic has furthered the careers of Jamie Whincup, Will Davison, Nick Percat and Anton De Pasquale.
Burchartz faces a strong field in the opening round of the Yokohama Tyre AASA Australian Formula Ford Championship at The Bend on March 13-15 as part of the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series.

“This will be my second full year in national Formula Ford,” said Burchartz.
“Last year was a good season, I made an appearance on the front-row at Phillip Island in the opening round. I mainly focused on getting experience, but this year will be a full assault on the championship.
“It’ll be great fun, I’ve known Mick and Maria forever. It’ll be great to race for their brand and represent them on-track.
“It’s everyone’s aim to win this thing. I’m going to go out there and do the very best I can to hopefully walk away with some silverware at the end of the season.
“I’m really looking forward to the racing the revitalised championship and back on TV, which gains so much attention for young drivers like myself.”
