Close margins in qualifying as Kobi Williams scores second pole in Sydney

Formula Ford Stars Series leader Kobi Williams continued his domination of Sydney Motorsport Park by taking his second pole for the weekend.

The gap between Williams and second placed Lachlan Evennett was just 0.014s as the top five were covered by a second.

Joe Fawcett qualified third and will aim to continue his charge from Race 2 where he climbed nine positions of which six were on the opening lap following an opening race retirement. Work continued to ensure his Spectrum was fully repaired after his opening lap tangle with Hunter Salvatore.

Sharing the second row alongside Fawcett is Jamie Rowe, while Will Lowing led the New South Wales contingent in fifth.

Salvatore is set to start sixth, while Fraser Hie improved his qualifying position from yesterday by three positions to be seventh ahead of Jack Johnson.

Marcos Ambrose Motorsport duo Brad James and Tabitha Ambrose rounded out the top 10 ahead of Kaleb Belak in the PioneerDJ Spectrum.

Rounding out the field was Ethan Fitzgerald, who has endured a fraught weekend up to this point after multiple spins during the opening two races.

Saturday’s opening race is due to commence at 5:30pm AEST live on SBS Viceland, Fox Sports and Kayo.
