Craig Lowndes teams up for TA2 Enduro

Craig Lowndes is the first star driver announced to be competing at the AASA-sanctioned Hi-Tec Oils Super Series ‘Fight in the Night’ event at Queensland Raceway next month.

Lowndes will team up with young gun Jarrod Hughes in a General Motors Australia and New Zealand-supported TFH Hire TA2 Muscle Car Racing Series presented by Maritimo endurance event.

It marks a major step in General Motors’ continued support of Australian motorsport by combining its best known ambassador with a rising star of the sport, who currently leads the standings heading into the ‘Fight in the Night’.

“I’ve been fortunate enough to work with Craig a few times for various events and activities with GM, but to now have the opportunity to co-drive with him is an opportunity I’ve had to really work hard for,” said Hughes.

“I met Craig about 12 years ago at Queensland Raceway, so for my first race with him to be at this track is a pretty cool opportunity and a moment I won’t forget.”

For Lowndes, his participation at the ‘Fight in the Night’ event marks his debut appearance in the TFH Hire TA2 Muscle Car Racing Series.

“I cannot wait to get behind the wheel of the TA2 Camaro with Jarrod,” said Lowndes.

“I was lucky enough to be involved with the launch of Alice Buckley’s Camaro a few weeks ago.

“From everything I’ve heard the TA2 is like a Supercar of old, you really need to muscle it to get the best out of it. It’s a driving style that I love and hopefully I can share a few insights with the young guns.”

“It’s fantastic that GM continues supporting the next generation of motorsport talent. I’ve learned from some of the greats I’ve grown up with, so for me it’s almost gone full circle to help transfer this knowledge and advice as best as I can to Jarrod and Alice.”

Hi-Tec Oils Super Series manager Carolyn Oldano is excited by the prospect of Lowndes competing at the ‘Fight in the Night’.

“We are absolutely delighted to welcome Craig Lowndes to the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series,” said Oldano.

“The TA2 Endurance Round is always a crowd favourite, and to have a driver of Craig’s calibre on the grid adds incredible excitement.

“His presence not only elevates the event, but also highlights the value of our grassroots series.

“It’s fantastic to see high-profile drivers like Craig supporting emerging talent and the future of Australian motorsport.”

TFH Hire TA2 Muscle Car Racing Series is just one of an exciting line-up of categories set to compete at Round 4 of the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series, the ‘Fight in the Night’ at Queensland Raceway, with the Hi-Tec Oils APC Enduro Championships and Innovation Race Cars also hosting endurance events.

The Australian Super Tin Tops Championship, Formula Vee Australia, Queensland Touring Car Championship and a variety of local categories ensure an action-packed spectacle is to come.

The ‘Fight in the Night’ at Queensland Raceway acts as Round 4 of the AASA-sanctioned Hi-Tec Oils Super Series on August 15-17.
