Familiar name returns to Super Series

Brock Paine, the winner of the Formula RX8 Series in 2024 will make his debut in the TA2 Muscle Car Series this Friday under lights at Sydney Motorsport Park.

The Queenslander was the class of the field in Formula RX8 last year winning nearly half of the races, he is excited to make the next step in his racing journey.

“I am really excited to be joining the series this weekend. It’s obviously a big step up from what I’ve raced in the past,” he said.

“I’m really looking forward to the competition, there are a lot of quality drivers in the field, and I can’t wait to prove myself against them.

“Winning the Formula RX8 championship was a huge milestone, but now it’s time to push myself even further. The TA2 cars are a big step up in power and competition, but I’m confident in the work we’ve put in to get here.”

Sydney Sundown will be Round 2 of the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series and the third round of the TFH Hire TA2 Muscle Car Series presented by Maritimo Luxury Motor Yachts.

In recent weeks Paine has completed several test days in preparation for his debut, gaining confidence behind the wheel of his V8-powered TA2 Camaro.

“The biggest thing I have found so far is getting used to the car positioning as it’s a left hand drive vehicle, as everything else I have driven has been right hand drive,” he explained.

“I feel really comfortable in the car, I have had a few test days but there is no real way to know until we get out on track this weekend.

“I put a fair bit of pressure on myself on race weekends to do well, but as this is our first round in these cars, if we can be inside the top 10 by the end of the weekend, I think the whole team will be pretty stoked with that.”

The Sydney Sundown will be shown live on SBS Viceland, Fox Sports and Kayo on Friday and Saturday from 17:00 to 21:00 AEST.

More action can be seen on the official Super Series YouTube channel, from 14:00-22:00 AEST on Friday, and from 13:00-2200 AEST on Saturday.
