Joe Fawcett sets the pace on Fast Friday at Winton
The Formula Ford Stars Series enjoyed three practice sessions to kick off its final round at the last Hi-Tec Oils Super Series event for the season at the Winton Wrap.
Joe Fawcett led the way at the end of two of the three practice sessions at Winton, while Will Lowing began Fast Friday on a high to set the fastest time.
A 1m 26.186s did the job for Lowing in the opening practice session to lead champion-elect Kobi Williams by 0.050s, with Brad James a further 0.501s in arrears for Marcos Ambrose Motorsport.
Isaac Demellweek was fourth ahead of Jamie Rowe, Fawcett, Jack Johnson and Tabitha Ambrose.
Fawcett lowered the mark to a 1m 26.109s in the second session to place ahead of Williams by 0.307s and Demellweek.
Rowe was fourth from Lowing, Johnson, James and Ambrose.
It was Fawcett again topping the timesheets in the final session of Fast Friday by setting a 1m 26.234s lap to be 0.063s clear of Lowing as Rowe made his move to be third.
Demellweek continued to be consistent in fourth ahead of Williams, James, Ambrose and Johnson.
The close margins promise an exciting qualifying and pair of races on Saturday at the Winton Wrap, with action beginning at 9:25am AEDT.
