Kobi Williams ends Mallala Masters on top

Kobi Williams has scored the final race victory at the penultimate Formula Ford Stars Series round hosted at Mallala.

It was a calculated race by Williams as he chose the moment to strike during the closing stages and withstood immense pressure from Lachlan Evennett to secure his 12th victory of the season.

The battle for the race victory was between three drivers in the end as Isaac Demellweek joined Williams and Evennett for a thrilling finish.

Behind the top three, Jamie Rowe was fourth ahead of Will Lowing after the latter locked up and ran off at Turn 2.

A slowing Joe Fawcett salvaged sixth ahead of Kaleb Belak

Giuseppe Imbrogno saved his best until last finishing eighth ahead of Marcos Ambrose Motorsport pair Tabitha Ambrose and Brad James.

Jack Johnson and Ethan Fitzgerald finished just outside the top 10 after colliding at Turn 2, while Hunter Salvatore retired following a brake problem.

Williams now holds a 175-point lead from Evennett, with 200 on offer at the Winton Wrap finale on October 31-November 2.
