National level Formula Ford returns to Queensland Raceway after six year absence

The Formula Ford Stars & Renegades will return the development category to Queensland Raceway for the first time since 2019 ensuring many contenders will make their debut at the circuit for Round 3.

All the key title protagonists will be eager to cut into Kobi Williams’ 157-point lead following his clean-sweep of Round 2 in Sydney.

Unlike the opening two rounds of the season, Williams has never been to Queensland Raceway and thus opens the door for many of his rivals to close in on his series lead.

Leading contender, Joe Fawcett put an opening race clash behind him at Sydney to emerge with three podiums and remain in touch with Williams, but the pressure will be on to add to his sole victory of the season.

Sydney confirmed Lachlan Evennett as a title contender following four thrilling contests. Evennett just fell short of a maiden victory at Round 2, but will aim to break through at a circuit he has plenty of prior knowledge of.

Will Lowing has been a consistent performer this season after scoring a podium in each of the opening events so far as he remains just 20-points behind Evennett in third.

A rollover at Round 2 was the second in as many weeks for Jamie Rowe, but he has since recovered and will be aiming to snatch back fourth place in the standings from Lowing.

The remaining positions in the top 10 are covered by just 78-points featuring Hunter Salvatore, Brad James, Jack Johnson and Fraser Hie, while Ethan Fitzgerald will be hoping to close on this quartet at Queensland Raceway.

It’s been a tough start to the season for Tabitha Ambrose, but she continues her progress in the Formula Ford Stars & Renegades Series and will be one to watch up north.

Joining the field for the first time is Renegades entrant Andrew Torti in his Kent-engined Spectrum 06B. A frontrunner in Kent competition locally, Torti is sure to be a quick inclusion to the field.

Round 3 of the Formula Ford Stars & Renegades Series is part of a packed 2 Days of Thunder event held in-conjunction with the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series on June 27-29.
