Lachlan Evennett preparing for Queensland double duty

Lachlan Evennett will be one of the busiest drivers at this weekend’s 2 Days of Thunder event hosting Round 3 of the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series at Queensland Raceway when he completes double-duty in the Formula Ford Stars Series and the TFH Hire TA2 Muscle Car Series presented by Maritimo.

A contender in the Formula Ford Stars Series, Evennett has combined this with a full-season campaign in the Trico Trans Am Series as part of Garry Rogers Motorsport and will add the TFH Hire TA2 Muscle Car Series presented by Maritimo Luxury Yachts to his program at his home circuit.

“I’m really looking forward to it,” said Evennett.

“Doing double duty at Queensland Raceway is the best venue to do it at due to the number of laps I’ve done around there and in the TA2 I’m confident I will be able to make the switch between the two fairly easily.”

Gaining experience in a variety of categories Evennett believes is key to his rapid development.

“You can’t really beat seat time,” he said.

“I’ll still be doing three categories this year in Formula Ford, Trans Am and TGRA GR Cup, but I think it definitely helps the confidence in the car from when you first jump into it you can use the reference to get down to competitive times and build on it from there.”

Evennett starred at the previous round of the Formula Ford Stars Series in Sydney and will be at a distinct advantage at Queensland Raceway due to the amount of experience he has at the circuit

“I’ve done a lot of testing at Queensland Raceway and hopefully I can get the one up on everyone else,” he stated.

“I hope it’s an advantage and I can take hold of it by using it to bring back the points gap.

“Just like Sydney, Queensland Raceway has a few fast, flowing corners and I hope it helps. I have a lot of confidence around Queensland Raceway, although I haven’t done a lot of racing there, but I know where the passing opportunities are and all those details, so I’ll try to utilise those.

Off-track, Evennett will have the support and experience through BF Racing as he aims to score his maiden victory in the Formula Ford Stars Series.

“My team owner Brett Francis has got plenty of experience there not just as a driver, but on the set-up side as well. Hopefully we can arrive with a good set-up and win some races.”

Round 3 of the Formula Ford Stars Series will be contested as part of the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series event, 2 Days of Thunder at Queensland Raceway on June 27-29.
