Qualifying drama as Kobi Williams adds another pole in Queensland

Formula Ford Stars & Renegades Series title leader Kobi Williams will start the opening race of Round 3 at Queensland Raceway on pole after form driver Lachlan Evennett was disqualified.

Evennett set the fastest time at the end of Qualifying, but was disqualified from the session due to a ride height infringement and will as a results start from the back of the grid.

Williams set a 1m 14.818s to take pole by 0.389s from Jamie Rowe in a rewarding performance for his team after a significant rebuild between events.

Will Lowing continued his strong form at Queensland Raceway to be third and will share the second row alongside key title contender Joe Fawcett.

Lining up fifth on the grid is Hunter Salvatore from Marcos Ambrose Motorsport’s Brad James, the recovering Jack Johnson following gearbox problems in Friday’s final practice session and Fraser Hie.

Tabitha Ambrose and Ethan Fitzgerald completed the top 10 from series debutant Andrew Torti.

Evennett will be one to watch from the back of the grid after being fastest in Friday’s final practice session.

Two races are coming up for the Formula Ford Stars & Renegades Series at the 2 Days of Thunder, with the first to commence at 1:35pm AEST on the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series livestream or on SBS On-Demand, Fox Sports and Kayo.
