Super Trucks join Hi-Tec Oils Super Series finale

The Australian Super Truck Championship will make its first appearance on the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series roster at the Winton Wrap on October 31-November 2.

An exciting addition to the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series program, the Australian Super Truck Championship enjoys a long history and continues to be a popular category.

Providing further diversity to an already stacked season finale for the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series at Winton, the Australian Super Truck Championship is currently enjoying a resurgence featuring growing grids and new circuits on its schedule.

The Winton Wrap marks the final round for the Australian Super Trucks Championship where seven-time winner Steven Zammit is targeting an eighth title, but 2019 champion Shannon Smith and Morgan Park victor Dale Cornfoot enter the event in contention.

Hi-Tec Oils Super Series manager Carolyn Oldano has welcomed the Australian Super Trucks Championship on to the Winton Wrap roster.

“I’m excited to confirm that the Australian Super Trucks will be part of our Winton round,” Oldano said.

“They’re a hugely popular category, always attracting a big crowd and putting on a spectacular show. They’re a fantastic addition to the program.

“The trucks are unique and bring a different energy to the track. They’ll bring their huge merchandise truck to Winton and having the trucks is going to be the icing on the cake for our season finale.

“Fans should absolutely head down for an action-packed weekend at Winton.”

For Australian Super Truck Championship President Bobby Dale, this announcement has been a long-time coming.

“It’s a really cool announcement, it's something that we've worked hard to do,” he said. “We’ve had a fair few doors close on us in the past, but tracks have been very receptive lately.

“Prior to 2025 we raced at Winton for four years, we had to bang on some doors to get out there, and it’s been worthwhile.

“Being on the Super Series program is fantastic and the exposure our series will get is definitely a bonus.”

Dale hopes the announcement is a sign of more future co-operation between the Australian Super Trucks Championship and the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series.

“The aim is to be on the national stage, and the Super Series has sort of taken us there at Winton, so that could be well and truly on the cards going forward,” he said.

“The good part about this is we get to feel it out next round and see what needs to be done and what we can do to make it better.”

“There's definitely a huge following for the trucks.”

For those that have not seen the trucks in person, you are in for a treat. The big rigs are a lot faster than you might expect, they might be heavy, but they really pack a punch, the action is always thrilling.

A packed schedule for the Australian Super Trucks Championship at the Winton Wrap includes a Top 5 Shootout, but begins with three practice sessions on Friday.

“On Saturday we have qualifying and a Top 5 Shootout before three races,” Dale said. “We have a championship race first for the main driver, and then we have two teams’ races where the co-driver races.

“Sunday’s three races, they're all for the main driver.

“So, there's four championship races in total and the most exciting part is that the final two on Sunday are reverse grids. You got the fast guys starting at the back and always makes for some action.”

Dale and competitor Marcus Prillwitz featured on the latest episode of Behind the Visor to discuss the news. The episode can be viewed here.

Joining the Australian Super Trucks Championship at the Winton Wrap are the TFH Hire TA2 Muscle Car Racing Series presented by Maritimo, Formula Ford Stars Series, Hi-Tec Oils APC Enduro Championship, the Australian IRC Racing Series, TFH Hire Legend Cars Australia, Australian Super Tin Tops Championship and Australian Drivers’ Championship.

Tickets for the Winton Wrap on October 31-November 2 can be purchased here, including a two day pass that costs just $40.
