Winton Wrap Day 3 recap

The 2025 Hi-Tec Oils Super Series ended on a huge high, a spectacular day of racing from all categories. The Sunday of the Winton Wrap will certainly be remembered for years to come.

TFH Hire TA2 Muscle Car Series by Maritimo

After scoring his maiden TA2 Muscle Car Series victory yesterday, Brock Paine secured both race wins on Sunday.

The three wins over the four races meant that he also secured his first-round victory in the series.

He was challenged all day long, but he did not crack under pressure even once. In the first race of the day Josh Webster pushed him late on, finishing just 0.7s in arrears with yesterday’s Race 1 winner Ben Gomersall rounding out the podium finishers.

After a disastrous Saturday Blake Tracey and the Hi-Tec Oils team turned there fortunes around and finished fourth ahead of Diesel and Josh Thomas.

The final race of the year was again a high-quality affair between the top two. Tracey from fourth on the grid was the biggest threat to Paine after quickly moving up to second place.

Tracey applied the pressure throughout the duration but was unable to get close enough to make a move.

Paine took the win by an even smaller margin, just 0.6s ahead of Tracey, with Gomersall a further 2s back. Josh Thomas and Hayden Hume completed the top five.

Eastern Sleepers Aussie Tin Tops

The Eastern Sleepers Aussie Tin Tops delivered in spades once again on the final day of the 2025 season, crowning a new race winner and new outright champion.

Winton 300 winner Todd Herring on debut in the series reigned supreme in the opening race of the day.

Todd Herring was sitting in second when a late race safety car was called, the man who won both of Saturday’s encounters Ben Arnold was leading the way, however had a 15s penalty hanging over his head.

Unfortunately for the R33 Skyline driver the race did not return to green and the 15s penalty demoted Arnold to ninth. Herring therefore took a thoroughly deserved win ahead of Cory Gillett and Peter Ryder.

Race 4 was a classic, in the end it went down to a one lap sprint to the finish. Gillett was leading but did not have the pace of those behind him, he made his Silvia the widest car you’ve ever seen and held on. Arnold finished just a car length behind at the end of the race, Herring was third.

The newly crowned champion Brent Edwards came from the back of the field to finish in position fourth after overtaking Ryder on the last lap.

TFH Hire Legend Cars Australia Championship

It was a huge day for the TFH Hire Legend Cars with no less than three races across the course of the day, determining the outcome of both Australian Championship and Aussie title.

Ruben Dan won two of the day’s three races to secure the Australian title, while the ever-consistent Aiden Williams collected enough points over the course of the round to secure the 2025 Australian Championship.

The youngster actually finished first on the road in the Top 10 inverted grid race the first of the day, however he was dealt a post-race penalty for an alleged bump and run which dropped him to fourth. Robert Hogan picked up the victory, beating home Williams and Dylan Thomas.

From that moment on the weekend was dominated by Dan, he finished 6s clear of Williams Thomas, Chais Tippett and Maverick Kemenyvary in Race 4.

In the final encounter he took his most dominant win yet, he finished 10.8s clear of the champion Williams and Tippett who scored his second podium of the year.

Australian Innovation Race Cars

Victories were split in the Innovation Race Cars, with Geoff Emery and Lee Stibbs scoring a win apiece.

The opening encounter was another victory for Emery, this though was his most notable yet, the win secured him not only the inaugural Australian Innovation Race Cars Series title, but also the endurance championship.

He held off a hard charging Lee Stibbs to take victory by just 0.6s with Danny Stutterd rounding out the top three.

The final encounter saw Stibbs take the lead with a bold but successful move around the outside at Turn 1.

From there he was never headed, stopping Emery from clean sweeping the weekend. Emery threw everything at it late on but missed out by 0.7s. Once again Stutterd rounded out the podium finishers.

Australian Super Trucks

The big rigs in the Australian Super Trucks put on a real show in the final three races of the weekend.

Although Race 2 was quite tame, the inverted grid races 3 and 4 were absolutely bonkers.

In the opening stages of the first race Dale Cornfoot was able to sneak by pole sitter Steven Zammit and from there was able to take off into the distance. He won the race by just over five seconds from Zammit and Frank Amoroso.

Race 3 was an epic, the 6 lapper came alive when Amoroso spun at Turn 10 on the opening lap and forced his rivals to take evasive action.

In the end Zammit and Cornfoot ended up locked in combat for the top spot on the final lap.

Zammit went ultra defensive into the penultimate turn but ran wide which allowed Cornfoot up the inside into the final corner. The pair made significant contact firing both trucks off the road. Cornfoot recovered fastest and took the win ahead of Zammit, with Smith third.

The final race was another final lap showdown between Cornfoot and Zammit, the latter was leading with just four corners to go when his truck ground to a halt.

Cornfoot took the win, Smith was second and Amoroso third, Zammit eventually crossed the line in sixth.

Hankook Australian Drivers Championship

Damon Sterling again dominated proceedings in the Hankook Australian Drivers Championship, clean sweeping the final round of the series and highlighting why he won the 2025 title.

Sterling was victorious in the first one of the day by a margin of 4.8s ahead of the rookie Harry Strik who scored his third runner-up position of the weekend, while again Lucas Stasi came home in third place.

In Race 2 Hayden Crossland became a threat, he quickly took third from Stasi and inherited second when Strik dropped out of the race with a mechanical issue.

Nobody though could match Sterling, he held onto the lead to the end and finished his season on a high. Crossland finished second in the race and championship, while Stasi bagged his fourth top three finish of the weekend.
