AASA to run four National Championships with Super Series

The Australian Auto-Sport Alliance (AASA) sanctioning body will run four national championships as part of its highest tiered circuit racing platform, the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series in 2026.

The 2026 Hi-Tec Oils Super Series – Season 4 national championships will be the Australian Formula Ford Championship, Legend Cars Australian Championship, Australian Drivers’ Championship and Formula RX8 Australian Championship.

Having the distinction of Australian Championship gives credibility to each category, highlighting their significance on the AASA platform.

AASA is working hard to give racing more purpose and more value, having high-quality Australian Championships as part of the Super Series does exactly that.

The incredibly popular pocket-rocket Legend Cars have proved to be a great launchpad for young drivers, teaching race craft and car control.

Legends Cars is one of the most competitive categories in the country, but also amongst the cheapest to compete in.

The category regularly fields over more than 40 cars, and our local drivers have proved to be some of the very best on the planet when competing in the world championship.

In 2026 the one-make Mazda series, Formula RX8 returns to the AASA and to the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series.

Formula RX8 is another a cost-effective way of getting into motorsport in fast, nimble, rear-wheel-drive cars. It has already demonstrated to be a great proving ground for young talent.

The prime example of this is former Formula RX8 series winner Brock Paine who is now taking race wins in the TA2 Muscle Car Series.

Formula Ford ran under the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series in 2025 as the Formula Ford Stars and Renegades Series.

It has already been announced that the Formula Ford Association of Australia (FFA) and the AASA will enter a partnership in 2026, with the series being granted national championship status.

The other national open-wheel series run under the AASA banner is the Australian Drivers’ Championship, contested by drivers racing in identical Aussie built Hyper Racer X1 machines.

These championships complement the three major Hi-Tec Oils Super Series categories, the TA2 Muscle Car Series, Australian Innovation Race Cars (IRC) Series and APC Endurance Series.

Drivers and teams considering competing in AASA for 2026 are encouraged call the AASA hotline on (03) 5721 7800 or email info@aasa.com.au for more information.

“The four National Championships that we have are low cost, highly competitive, will attract big grids and will be exciting to watch.

“For our race fans, drivers and teams, we want the Super Series to be the home of pure racing and having Australian Championships to compete for will make sure our drivers have a reason to risk it all out on the track.

“ADC, Legend Cars and Formula RX8’s are low-cost categories which attracts both experienced and up and coming drivers learning their craft. Formula Ford is a pure-bred racing car perfect to learn to skills of car setup and vehicle dynamics – a class for the next wave of superstars. Formula Ford has over the years proven to create world class drivers.

“When you have quality of cars and drivers racing for an Australian Championship like the super series does for 2026 - something special is going to happen.”

Brett Thomas – Legend Cars Australian Championship owner

“Having the championship name certainly gives the category, and gives us credibility,” Thomas said.

“There is a lot of interest from go karting families that are coming into Legend Cars and to the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series because of it being a national championship, and because of the Australian titles and national titles associated with it.

“I think a lot of people are seeing the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series has the TV and has the backing. It gives Legend Cars clarity having the championship status added to the name.”
