Big APC grid for Fight in the Night

A stacked field will contest the Hi-Tec Oils APC Enduro Championship’s marquee event, the Fight in the Night at Queensland Raceway on August 15-17.

More than 25 entries split across eight classes will battle it out under lights to complete the category’s Queensland swing.

The previous round of the Hi-Tec Oils APC Enduro Championships provided a preview of the competition expected at Fight in the Night having been also held at Queensland Raceway as part of the 2 Days of Thunder meeting.

Back in June, it was Trent Whyte and Glenn Walker taking victory in the Ultimate Diesel Tuning Ford Mustang Mach 1, but the outright battle will rise again at the Fight in the Night.

After an electronic component failed to arrive in time for 2 Days of Thunder, Maika Ter Hoist will be a contender in the Class X Speedcafe.com BMW M4 F82 to be shared by Robert Gooley.

The once dominant Mitsubishi Lancer Evo X makes its return to the Hi-Tec Oils APC Enduro Championships, with Craig Allan determined to prove it isn’t a spent force.

Competition in Class A1 for Allan will come from David Ling and Troy Williams sharing the David Ling Insurance Services FPV GT-F in addition to a pair of Mercedes-Benz A45 AMGs. The experienced Mark Griffith alongside a to be confirmed co-driver will aim to build on the potential displayed last time out at the the QR Twilight 300 at the 2 Days, while FG Motorsport duo Chris Gunther and Mitch Randall are targeting an improved performance.

The Ultimate Diesel Tuning entry of Whyte and Walker leads the highly competitive Class A2 field.

Making a welcome return to the category is the Parramatta Special Vehicles’ Ford Mustang of reigning Fight in the Night winners Hadrian Morrall and Tyler Mecklem, with Lindsay Kearns bolstering the ‘Pony Car’ stocks in the similar CMA Car Mods Australia entry to be shared by Brad Carr.

Following a dramatic engine detonation at the QR Twilight 300 at the 2 Days, Queensland Raceway circuit owner Tony Quinn will return to the field in his exciting Chevrolet Camaro. Matt McCutcheon is back to co-drive after scoring pole position at the event.

Rounding out Class A2 is the popular Moma Solar Lighting Mercedes-Benz C63 AMG of Anthony Levitt and Jason Simes.

Surprising many key rivals with their pace were the father-daughter duo of Paul and Karlie Buccini sharing their Class B1 BMW 340i. The Bavarian four-door sedan proved more than a match for the muscle cars in Class A2.

It’s BMW versus HSV in the fight for Class B2 led by Rohit Saini’s Clean and Wash HSV GTS, which enjoyed a solid outing at Round 2 with co-driver David Murphy.

One entry not to be discounted as an outright threat is Ben Gersekowski’s KCK Lubricants-backed BMW M3 E92, joined by the similar Axis Surveys sponsored model of Richard Shinkfield and Class C convert Chris Holdt.

Holdt’s Class C Prime Motorsport Holden Astra OPC will be driven by the returning Gerard O’Flynn, who will team with Byron Lutelu. The older HSV VXR variant returns courtesy of PB Motorsport’s Oskar Butt and Troy Derwent.

However, the driver to beat in Class C following an outright podium at the QR Twilight 300 at the 2 Days will be Jake Camilleri in his giant killing Mazda 3 MPS.

Class D features the biggest field and is expected to provide the hottest competition at the Fight in the Night.

Regular class leaders Allan and Rob Jarvis will have plenty of rivals to overcome in their Volkswagen Polo GTi including the surprise round winners from the QR Twilight 300 at the 2 Days.

Rob O’Connor and former Super2 driver Jesse Dixon put in a formidable performance to defeat the Jarvis father-son duo at Round 2 in the Kirksworks BMW 130i, so will be targeting a repeat at Fight in the Night.

Numbers in the class are bolstered by the popular Toyota 86 and Subaru BRZ models.

The Toyota attack is led by the all-female line-up of Annabelle Rolfo and rival turned co-driver Emily Caccaviello in the Littles Lawyers 86.

Angus Baills has drafted in rising star Max Geoghegan in place of Caccaviello in the Trakwell 86, with similar Toyotas for BPRO’s Darren Whittington and Riley Biggs alongside category debutants Laclan Platten and Brad Fellows.

Jye Flynn’s Integrale Homes-backed Subaru BRZ to be co-driven by Ashton Gealy will be joined on the grid by the similar example of Aston Davis and Josh Tappett supported by ADR All Access Hire.

Rounding out the field is the BMW E46 of Greg Wilson, which brings the famous gold and black colour scheme of JPS to the Fight in the Night grid.

Also, the winner of the trip for two to Highland Motorsport Park will be confirmed once all stage points in each class have been calculated, The prize was offered by Quinn, with drivers scoring stage points across both Hi-Tec Oils APC Enduro Championship rounds at Queensland Raceway.

The Fight in the Night event is one of the most prestigious events on the production car calendar having started in 2012 and has become a staple ever since rising to be the headline act for the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series’ second trip to Queensland Raceway in 2025.

The Fight in the Night round will consist of practice and qualifying sessions on Friday, before two 30-minute races on Saturday, preceding the main event during the evening.
