Jamie Rowe leads the way following opening practice in Sydney

Jamie Rowe has started Round 2 of the Formula Ford Stars Series at Sydney Motorsport Park fastest after opening practice.

Rowe set a 1m 33.613s to take the early weekend bragging rights ahead of Lachlan Evennett and Joe Fawcett.

Evennett was 1.943s off Rowe’s time as he aims to climb the standings after a difficult opening round at Winton, while Fawcett is eager to claw back ground on current series leader Kobi Williams, who was fifth fastest.

Splitting the two title leaders was the first of the local Sydney drivers in Will Lowing in fourth as Jack Johnson just trailed Williams in sixth.

Aiming to bounce back from a tough event at Winton, Fraser Hie made a solid start to be seventh from Hunter Salvatore, New South Welshman Kaleb Belak and lead Marcos Ambrose Motorsport driver Brad James was 10th.

Completing the field were Tabitha Ambrose and Ethan Fitzgerald.

Another practice session at 1:30pm is immediately followed by Qualifying at 1:45pm AEST.
