Kaleb Belak eager to impress on home turf
Sydney Motorsport Park is the home of many competitors within the Formula Ford Stars & Renegades Series including Kaleb Belak.
Driving the Pioneer DJ Spectrum, Balek made a steady start at Winton among a competitive field and is eager to demonstrate further driver development on home turf.
“I came into the weekend at Winton with pretty low expectations, never having been there in the dry before,” Belak reflected.
“Hopefully I can do well on home turf. We’ll definitely be there and give it our best shot, with a little bit of pre-event testing as well, which will be awesome.
If Winton is anything to go by, Belak might just be a threat at Sydney given the rapid improvement across the opening round.
“I was just over a second off, so I was pretty happy with that,” Belak said.
“I developed over the weekend and found a lot in my driving, we just lacked car set-up at the end.
“On the car side, I tried to maximise clean air and not sit behind rivals for too long by planning an overtake quickly.
“I learnt a lot more about race craft, how to drive myself and improve my technique, but also I developed the set-up a lot to understand the car further.”
Balek will be one to watch as part of an highly competitive field contesting Round 2 at the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series Sydney Sundown on May 30-31.
And yes, Kaleb’s name is a palindrome.
