Lachlan Evennett snatches pole after thrilling Mallala qualifying session

BF Racing’s Lachlan Evennett has scored pole position following an extremely close opening Formula Ford Stars Series qualifying session at Mallala.

A 1m 10.608s lap did the job for Evennett as he also secured a crucial 10-points by scoring pole by just 0.044s from series leader Kobi Williams.

Williams led the way for much of the session until a last gasp lap from Evennett confirmed pole.

Third in the standings, Joe Fawcett was just 0.052s from pole as Will Lowing finished a further 0.009s in arrears and Jamie Rowe completed the top five just 0.004s off fourth.

Hunter Salvatore was next best in sixth from series debutant Isaac Demellweek.

Jack Johnson will line-up eighth ahead of Marcos Ambrose Motorsport’s Brad James and local Ethan Fitzgerald completed the top 10.

Series returnee Kaleb Belak led Tabitha Ambrose and Giuseppe Imbrogno completed the field after his Spectrum encountered a mechanical problem.

Race 1 is next for the Formula Ford Stars Series at 1:15pm ACST/1:45pm AEST live on SBS, SBS On Demand and Kayo.
