Oli Wickham paces Friday at Queensland Raceway

Title leader Oli Wickham has set the pace in two out of three practice sessions for the Yokohama Tyre AASA Australian Formula Ford Championship at Queensland Raceway.

Once again joining the Hi-Tec Oils Super Series for the 2 Days of Thunder, it was Wickham and Will Lowing leading the way in each of the three sessions.

Lowing continued his Sydney Motorsport Park set a 1m 15.198s to lead the opening session by 0.277s from Team Sonic’s Seth Burchartz, while Wickham was 0.412s off the ultimate pace.

Behind the lead trio were Isaac Demellweek, Hunter Salvatore, Jett Leicester, Jamie Rowe, Brad James, Kaleb Belak and Tabitha Ambrose.

Rio Campbell failed to set a representative time after stopping on track early in the session.

Wickham went to the top in the second session where the afternoon sun led to marginally slower laps as a 1m 15.312s was the fastest time.

It was just a 0.134s margin back to Lowing in a swapping of positions from the first session, with Burchartz third.

Repeating his fourth from the opening session was Demellweek ahead of Rowe, Salvatore, James, Xavier Henderson, Lachie Mineeff and Sam March.

In the final session, Wickham set the fastest lap at a 1m 15.037s from Lowing by 0.246s and Burchartz.

Leicester recovered from an interrupted second session to finish fourth ahead of Demellweek, Rowe, Salvatore, James, Mineeff and Ambrose.

Qualifying for the Yokohama Tyre AASA Australian Formula Ford Championship will begin at 9:35am tomorrow before two races to be broadcast live on SBS and Kayo.
