Will Lowing scores maiden Yokohama Tyre AASA Australian Formula Ford Championship pole

Will Lowing has taken pole for Saturday’s opening Yokohama Tyre AASA Australian Formula Ford Championship race at Sydney Motorsport Park.

Once again, drivers contested a Shootout style Qualifying session where Lowing prevailed after setting a 1m 34.799s.

Closest to Lowing’s time was title contender Seth Burchartz, who just fell short by 0.053s as Isaac Demellweek rounded out the top three after being 0.389s off the pole time.

Jamie Rowe will share the second row with Demellweek after mixed results in the two races held on Friday evening.

Following on from a personal best result in last night’s second race, Brad James will start the opening event on Saturday from fifth alongside championship leader Oli Wickham.

There is work to do for Wickham, but he has proven to rise up to the challenge when in these positions.

Damage ended Race 2 early for Lachie Mineeff, but he will start from seventh alongside Hunter Salvatore.

Xavier Henderson continues to qualify consistently inside the top 10 as he shares the fifth row with Sam March.

Placing 11th was Kaleb Belak in the Shootout ahead of Giuseppe Imbrogno, Will Hickey, Tabitha Ambrose, Jett Leicester and Rio Campbell completes the runners.

Ryan DeBorre made contact with the wall and failed to set a lap time, with a steering problem believed to be the cause.

Saturday action continues for the Yokohama Tyre AASA Australian Formula Ford Championship with Race 1 at 5:25pm and the final event at 7:45pm as both feature on the live broadcast on SBS Viceland, SBS On Demand, Fox Sports 507 and Kayo Sports.
